Liz & Elliot’s wedding portraits at Greenhaugh Gardens

Beautiful gardens, summer light and two people who were very happy just being themselves.

I met Liz and Elliot at Greenhaugh Gardens near Palmerston North for a relaxed wedding portrait session, giving us plenty of time to wander through the gardens and create a beautiful collection of photographs together.

These two brought so much personality to the session. There was plenty of laughter, very little standing stiffly looking at the camera and the kind of easy connection that makes photographing a couple ridiculously enjoyable.

Wedding portraits at Greenhaugh Gardens

Greenhaugh Gardens is such a beautiful spot for wedding photography, with established gardens, gorgeous greenery, the fountain and plenty of different little corners to explore.

We made the most of it all.

I wanted Liz and Elliot’s photographs to have variety, so we created some of those beautiful, classic portraits you’ll always want, alongside plenty of movement, laughter and the quieter moments in between.

The result felt polished without losing any of the personality that makes them them.

Beautiful photographs without the awkwardness

One of the things I hear from couples all the time is that they’re worried they’ll feel awkward in front of the camera.

You really don’t need to know what you’re doing.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, help you find the good light and make all those tiny adjustments that make a photograph work beautifully. But I’m equally happy to step back when I can see something happening naturally.

You’re allowed to talk to each other. Laugh. Move around. Forget what I’ve just told you to do because one of you has made the other laugh.

Those moments are part of it too.

And Liz and Elliot made that side of my job particularly easy.

“She allowed us to just be ourselves”

Afterwards, Liz and Elliot said:

“She allowed us to just be ourselves, would highly recommend her!”

Which is exactly how I want being photographed to feel.

There’s room for the beautifully composed photographs and the ones that happen when you’ve forgotten about the camera for a second.

You don’t have to choose between the two.
